Computer Classics ® is a publisher. We began publishing in the year 1984 under the name Timed-Sequence Learning ™. Our first product was the electronic version of the first chapter of Genesis from the King James Version of the Holy Bible authorized in 1611. The product was named The Story of Creation and the text moved at one of eight reading or comprehension speeds. We received a US copyright for the product in 1984 because, at that time, it was the only product of its type.
We began adapting additional chapters of the King James Bible to computer commands and received US copyrights for: Noah and the Ark, David and Goliath, The Fall from Grace, The Garden of Eden, My Bible Primer I ( a series of prayers and psalms that included the Lord's Prayer ) and The Christmas Story. The products evolved as images, animation, music, voice and sound effects were added. In The Fall from Grace, the serpent hisses and speaks to Eve - encouraging her to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge. In The Christmas Story, angels appear before the shepherds and speak to the shepherds, "Fear not for we bring tidings of great joy".
More stories followed: Aesop's Fables - The Hare and the Tortoise, The Headless Horseman, Dinosaurs, Dracula and A Christmas Carol. The stories began displaying the registered State trademark Computer Classics ™ in 1989. In 1992, we received the registered USPTO Federal Trademark and officially changed our name to Computer Classics ®.
News Disk ®
Our most innovative product was a news type product adapted specifically for computer use. The first monthly issue of News Disk ® was published December 1989. The product contained moving text, images, limited animation, sound effects and voice. In 1991, the product changed as real photographs were incorporated into the product. The February 1990 issue was dedicated to Black History Month and featured the actual voice of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (contained a portion of his I Have A Dream speech). This issue, and others, would be included in an exhibit of software at the National Demonstration Laboratory of the Smithsonian Institute in 1992.
Number Cross ®
Number Cross ™ was created specifically as the math component of the Computer Classics ® series of software. The product broke all boundaries of educational math programs as it was the first educational product created around a learning theory, PAL or Positive Answer Learning. Number Cross ™ was created in 1989 and formally introduced at the 11th National Educational Computing Conference June 25, 1990.
In 2005, we received the registered USPTO Federal Trademark for the name and logo, Number Cross ®.
Network Ready
All electronic books, electronic News Disk ® and Number Cross ® were designed, in 1984, to be used on a network system, Novell ® and Banyon Vines ® at no additional charge. In 1989, fifty students could access Number Cross ® on a network system and receive different problems. The programs were self contained and required no additional software programs to run.
Traditional Publishing
In 2001, we began publishing traditional trade paper versions of our electronic books. Our first title broke boundaries in literature by creating a new category, Biblical Fiction. Rebecca was the first in a series of stories of a thirteenth disciple.
George's Flag was written in 2006 and published in 2007 in electronic and trade paper format. The novel may have historic implications. The novel is the fictional story of the election of the first Hispanic-American president. However, the novel parallels the Barack Obama 2008 presidential campaign in political message, strategy and possible future policy.
The Past Meets the Future
Computer Classics ® continues to provide insightful, future oriented products. We correctly predicted, in 1984, that books would move from a print format to an electronic format. We correctly predicted, in 1989, that the computer would be used to deliver news and in 2008, we saw the first major decline in print news as on-line has become the major method of news delivery.
Number Cross ® was created in 1989 for the purpose of aiding children and adults to learn basic math. Math scores have continued to decline and after eighteen years, the product is being viewed as a possible tool to be used in elementary and secondary schools to improve math scores.
Plato's Dream was published in 2005 and it is based on the theories of philosophers Plato and Aristotle. The novel explores their theories that in addition to receiving physical characteristics of hair color, body size and shape from our parents; we received something else - their memories. According to their theories, 350 and 360 B.C., these memories and experiences are passed in our DNA. The concept of a genetic consciousness is a hot button topic among geneticists. Genetic memory may explain the concept of instinct in animals and explain past-life experiences in humans.
A non-fiction novel, scheduled for publication in the third quarter of 2009, has the potential of changing everyone's perception of Christmas and how religious services are conducted during the Christmas season. The author has uncovered historical evidence that King Herod did order, and carry out, the murder of infants as recorded in the story of the Nativity. This is the dark side of the Nativity. As people celebrate the birth of Jesus, they have forgotten infants were slaughtered by Roman soldiers at Herod's command. Slowly over a period of years, these children have been forgotten and left out of the Nativity story.
